Melinda Gates, co-founder of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, once said that, “A woman with a voice is, by definition, a strong woman. But the search to find that voice can be remarkably difficult.” Though we are certainly making great strides in disproving stereotypes of what it means to be a woman, there is still much to be done before we achieve true equality.
Womanhood is beautiful and powerful but it is also complex. There are days when we don’t really know where we’re headed or if we’re doing the right thing. That can be scary but it doesn’t have to be.
Belle de Jour is a community that empowers women to try, to dare, to achieve, to discover, and to live our best lives. This year, they are celebrating 10 years of empowerment by hosting the first BDJ Women’s Summit on April 16, 2016, at Samsung Hall in SM Aura. The theme is Women Helping Women.
With 800-1000 attendees ready to take action and make a difference, the summit is meant to provoke meaningful and engaging discussions on women-related issues such as self-proficiency, anti-intellectualism, legacy building, and creating social impact – and spark action.
