“You are acting as REAL MEN if you are living on timeless principles and values. You must lead and protect women, children & families. You must also provide for their needs not just financially, but also emotionally.” That’s what the men of Boiling Waters said when asked what makes a real man. The group, which started in 2006, has been making itself visible on Facebook and Twitter with their posts, telling men how to treat women. Describing themselves as a movement of people passionate about inspiring manhood and womanhood, Boiling Waters tell us what it’s like to be a “caregroup ng mga tunay na lalake.”
ABOUT BOILING WATERS
What made you guys decide to start this group?
It’s our need. We are looking for a safe community where we can open our personal issues in life without critical judgement from anyone else. We also believe that it’s our call to raise up men and women who will help fight against sexual harassment, abuse of women and children, poverty, etc. Like Edmund Burke said, “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” We should do something, the time to act is now. And we cannot do this alone.
How many are you in the group, and what is your age range?
We are not sure about our exact head count. It’s a growing network of communities who believe in our cause. 21-35 is our age range.
How did you come up with the name?
We want to become a passionate leaders and lovers, not lukewarm and passive. How do you harden an egg? Voila! Boiling waters!
Are you mentored by other men?
Yes! Like Michael Jordan, we need Coach Phil; like Manny Pacquiao, we need Freddie Roach; and like Anakin, we need Obi Wan. We have this instinct inside of us. We have the drive to achieve great things, overcome our weaknesses, and fight for our princesses.
Tell us something about the caregroup, how does it work?
We’re having fun! We want our men to level up and man up to life’s challenges. We have peer-to-peer coaching and group meet up.
What are some topics or issues that the group usually talk about?
We are composed of single and married guys. We talk about sex, dating & courtship, family issues, sports, movies, careers, books, politics, social media, education, music, espionage, college days, arts, leadership, and principles from the Bible.
What are some of the challenges that you face with Boiling Waters?
We are frustrated or discontented every time we feel like we’re not making any progress on our career, life goals, and relationship with girls.
What makes this group different from all the other male groups?
We are all uniquely created. It just so happens that we bond very well as a team , and people like it.
What do you hope to accomplish with Boiling Waters?
Raise up passionate lovers, faithful husbands… Then make babies, build and multiply value-driven families, change the world!
