How would you describe your style?

My style is very sleek, sexy and fun. It’s a lot of monochromes with pops of color.

Where does your confidence come from?

I think it comes from a couple different things. The first is being me. I admit, before blogging, I didn’t have the best self-esteem and wouldn’t be caught dead in a bikini. My blog has kind of been therapeutic for me in the sense that it’s helped me evolve into who I am today. It’s taught me to love myself as I am. But it’s also taught me to be okay with the fact that not everyone else is going to, and I think that’s where confidence comes from.

What makes you feel good about yourself?

I do. It has to come from me.

What are your key pieces when dressing up?

Hmmm…I think it’s all in the accessories. So the bag, the jewelry, and the shoes. I can put on any black dress, but it’s the accessories that set the tone for the look and can take it from basic to elegant.

Have you always been fashionable?

Unfortunately, I have not. When I was in junior/high school I didn’t really have many clothing options and I wore a lot of men’s shirt because that’s what fits me, and my high school has a crazy-strict dress code so I couldn’t really wear anything cool anyways.

How did your style evolve into what it is now?

It wasn’t until college that I started dabbling more into fashion and experimenting with different styles and trends; that’s when my style really developed into what it is now. I also tried out different celeb styles and I really related most to Kim K’s. It’s just ultra sleek. I think I’m pretty laid back for the most part, but I also like to look polished so I mix her sleekness with my simplicity.

How does your style affect your mood?

I definitely have some looks that I love more than others, but I don’t think my style has any effect on my mood.

What dictates the outfit you’ll be wearing for the day?

Since I live in a place where it’s sunny 360 days a year, I don’t need to worry about the weather. It mostly depends on my mood and what vibe I’m going for. Some days I want to be sexy, casual, comfy. etc. I will say that 99% of the time, I will be wearing pants of some kind. I find them they’re easier to wear than dresses or skirts.

Who’s your style inspiration?

Kim Kardashian. I’m a monochrome girl. I don’t like wearing a ton of different colors at once. If I could get away with wearing black all day every day I absolutely would. I’m inspired by Kim because she is the queen of monochromes and she can wear an all gray look and still look insanely sexy and put together.

Have you ever had negative/annoying comments about how you look/dress?

I’m hoping I don’t jinx myself, but I’ve only had maybe 2 or 3 since I’ve started blogging. When the first one happened I was like, “whoa, what did I ever do to you?” and I took it really personal. When they happen, of course I have the initial shock, but it doesn’t ever discourage me. I fully understand that those types of comments come with territory, and I can’t let one negative comment outshine the hundreds of amazing ones I receive. I also never respond to those people. They don’t deserve that power.

Favorite places to shop?

Lately almost all my shopping is online. I rarely go into stores anymore. I love Forever 21, Fashion to Figure, BooHoo, Charlotte Russe, Rebdolls, DEB, Yours Clothing.

Tips on how to have a body positive attitude:

#1: Always wear what makes you feels comfortable. Why should I be uncomfortable or self conscious all day in an outfit just because it’s “trendy?”

#2: Don’t compare yourself to other people. I understand that’s a lot easier said than done, and I used to be the first person to wish I has someone else’s body, until I realized that if I put half of that energy into learning to myself, I would be way better off.

Top 5 must-haves in your closet (that you will never give up):

1) Blazers. In my opinion, they’re one of the most versatile pieces of clothing.

2) Denim. We all have that one pair of jeans that fits like a glove.

3) A black dress. You can wear it to literally anything.

4) Black pumps. They can polish off almost any look and are great for work.

5) A black or tan purse. To use for every season.

Favorite lazy outfit:

Is it bad that I don’t own a single pair of sweatpants? Even my lazy look still needs to be a little chic. For me, it’s a pair of jeans and a tee. Or if I’m feeling ultra lazy, I’ll swap the jeans for workout pants.

Favorite head-turner outfit:

For me, it would be a great fitting pair of skinny jeans, a white low cut top,  and of course a blazer.

Tips for girls who want to be fashionable on a budget:

The key is learning to mix and match. I’ve touched on this a few times in my blog. I find a lot of people buy full outfits at one time.

Fashion/beauty must-haves this Christmas season:

Red lipstick, anything sequin or metallic
